Happy Birthday Harry Callahan!! This American artist was a photographer, born in 1912. Self-taught, a talk by Ansel Adams convinced Callahan to seriously pursue photography. He was quite experimental in photographing his life, family and the city around him. He worked with multiple exposures, blurring, distance, and varied formats. Although he shot thousands of photos, he finalized only a few each year. One of the first to be recognized for color as well as black and white, in 1996 he won the National Medal of Arts for his work. The Acme Sign Shop, Providence, 1977, is included today.
